Cubs do you know that in the west many countries set their clocks an hour back in the fall to make most use of the daylight? Ingenious, isn’t it! We all know that during winters the sun rises late and sets early, therefore to use maximum daylight this prodigious idea was thought by Benjamin Franklin in 1784 primary in order to reduce the use of candles.

November came from the Latin word ‘novem’ meaning the ninth month of the year, as per the original Roman calendar November was the ninth month of the year.

THE UNITED NATIONS

The United Nations (UN) is an international organisation founded in 1945 after the second world war. Initially it was formed with 51 countries (know as members states) but today almost every nation is a part of UN and it has 193 member states. The UN is headquartered at New York in USA and has offices in Geneva (Switzerland), Nairobi (Kenya) and Vienna (Austria). The official languages of UN are Arabic, French, English, Chinese, Russian and Spanish.

BUSY AS A BEE!

Hey Cubs have you ever thought why the simile ‘Busy as a Bee’ is used and not busy as bear or something else? Well, it’s because the industrious bees are always occupied in making a sweet liquid called honey. While they are at it, they unknowingly carry out pollination.
